Student Internships and Religion

Should religious organizations have the authority to tell religious-oriented colleges what kind of student internships they can offer?

This question has become the center of debate after The Cardinal Newman Society recently declared that nine Catholic colleges and universities wrongfully offer students credit for internships at organizations whose missions contradict the views of the Catholic church.

The Cardinal Newman Society – a self-appointed organization dedicated to maintaining Catholic identity in Catholic colleges and universities – argues that these institutions offer internship opportunities at pro-choice organizations, which is against the Catholic mindset.

St Louis Career Seekers Get Help

People looking for St Louis careers and jobs throughout the State of Missouri have received a lot of help as of late.

The Missouri Department of Economic Development recently released “Competing in the 21st Century: Building the Workforce To Lead Missouri’s Economic Transformation,” a report that details significant achievements in the state’s workforce development system during the last year.

According to the report, Missouri Career Centers provided services to 398,092 residents from July 1, 2008, to June 30 of this year, which is a 70 percent increase from the previous year. About 243 companies were able to provide training assistance to 32,468 workers through the Missouri Customized Training Program. Those workers earned an average of $19.50 per hour.

Miami Jobs Created by Grupo Eulen

One company’s decision to move its headquarters will help create 500 Miami jobs.

Spain-based Grupo Eulen recently announced its plan to move the company’s regional headquarters from Mexico City to Miami. That plan will result in the creation of 500 new jobs and a total investment of $30 million.

Grupo Eulen provides cleaning, maintenance, security and environmental services for major international companies throughout Spain, Portugal, Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean. The company currently has 72,000 employees and more than $2.3 billion in revenues.

Nashville Jobs Created by Company Relocation

The relocation of one company will result in new Nashville jobs (Click here).

Lennox Hearth Products, a California-based company, recently announced its plan to move its headquarters and research and development operations to Nashville. The transition will bring about 60 employees to the city.

Lennox manufactures and markets factory-built fireplaces, stoves and other hearth products for new homes and remodeling projects. The company also plans to consolidate its customer and technical service departments in Union City, Tenn.
