Austin Medical Jobs Get High-Tech Training

Some local business and an educational institution are teaming up to prepare students for high-tech Austin medical jobs

The University of Texas College of Natural Sciences

is planning to offer a Health IT Summer Certificate Program. The intensive full-time, nine-week internship program will help about 50 students gain the skills they need to get a health information technology job, with the help of the University of Texas and the Texas e-Health Alliance .

Students who complete the program will receive a certificate as a health information manager and exchange specialist. They will then be eligible for jobs with local HIT companies, such as e-MDs

, a company that manages electronic medical records and electronic health records systems, billing, and consultation.

St Louis Construction Jobs for Construction Managers

After receiving a hard blow from the economic downturn, St Louis construction jobs

are finally starting to open up again, and there are plenty of opportunities for those looking for a position.

The mining, logging and construction industry in St. Louis

employed 57,800 workers during March, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics . This is up from 54,500 workers during February, but a 10.9 percent decrease from last year.

That recent growth

may convince some formerly-employed construction workers, or those new to the industry, to start looking for work. If you’re one of those people, you may want to consider applying for construction management positions, which are popular and pay well.

Miami Government Jobs Created by Health Department, University Partnership

A partnership between the local health department and a university will help create tens of thousands of Miami government jobs

The Miami-Dade County Health Department

and Florida International University are teaming up to create the state’s first Academic Health Sciences Center. As part of the effort, the health department will consolidate its administrative and program offices, currently housed at eight locations, at FIU’s Modesto A. Maidique Campus.

“Through this partnership, we can cut costs and become a more efficient department,” MDCHD Administrator Lillian Rivera said in a press release.
