Jobs in Austin with Facebook

One of the most popular social networks is still looking for people to fill jobs in Austin.

Facebook Inc. recently celebrated the opening of a new office in downtown Austin. The company has already hired more than 60 workers here and is still looking for new employees. Facebook plans to hire at least 200 people during the next four years, with salaries ranging from $50,000 per year for staff workers to $85,000 for managers.

“We’re very excited about the future and our prospects for growth here,” Grady Burnett , director of global sales and operations for Facebook, told the Austin American-Statesman.

Austin Medical Jobs Get High-Tech Training

Some local business and an educational institution are teaming up to prepare students for high-tech Austin medical jobs.

The University of Texas College of Natural Sciences is planning to offer a Health IT Summer Certificate Program. The intensive full-time, nine-week internship program will help about 50 students gain the skills they need to get a health information technology job, with the help of the University of Texas and the Texas e-Health Alliance.

Students who complete the program will receive a certificate as a health information manager and exchange specialist. They will then be eligible for jobs with local HIT companies, such as e-MDs, a company that manages electronic medical records and electronic health records systems, billing, and consultation.

Austin Teaching Jobs Added at ACC

One local college is expanding and creating several Austin teaching jobs.

The Austin Community College District recently announced that it will create an additional 100 full-time staff positions in order to keep up with increasing enrollment. It is expected there will be openings in all fields, with positions ranging from cashiers to campus police to media technology specialists.

“This new hiring reflects ACC’s commitment to expanding our faculty and staff base as enrollment increases,” Dr. Stephen B. Kinslow, president and CEO of the Austin Community College District, told the Austin Business Journal. “We want to ensure all students have access to the same high-quality education and support services as ACC grows.”
