Dallas Restaurant Jobs Supporting Veterans

Those with Dallas restaurant jobs can now do their part to support our nation’s veterans.

The National Restaurant Association and Texas Restaurant Association recently launched the “Freedom is Sweet!” program, which is aimed at raising funds to support rehabilitation efforts for veterans and their family members.

Restaurants throughout Texas can participate in the program by donating a portion of sales from special menu items, offering free meals or menu items to veterans and their family members, and collecting donations from guests.

Dallas Hotel Jobs Available with Omni

Hundreds of Dallas hotel jobs (http://benchmarkinwestlake.com) are up for grabs this week.

The Omni Dallas Hotel will host a three-day job fair this week in an effort to hire more than 400 part-time and full-time employees. The job fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday and Friday and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Dallas Convention Center.

  • Culinary
  • Front desk
  • Housekeeping

Dallas Hospitality Jobs Growth Ranked 13th

Thousands of Dallas hospitality jobs have been added over the last few years.

A recent On Numbers study from The Business Journals found that one-third of the nation’s largest markets have more leisure and hospitality jobs than they did before the economic recession began.

The study includes the 100 largest cities in the nation and is based on data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on the leisure and hospitality industry, which includes hotels, motels, restaurants, bars, casinos, museums, performing arts companies, and professional sports teams.

Dallas Medical Jobs for Transcriptionists

For those who are interested in Dallas medical jobs, but don’t want to be a nurse or doctor, a position as a medical transcriptionist may be a good option.

Medical transcriptionists spend most of their time listening to recordings made by healthcare professionals and transcribing them into medical reports. They may create discharge summaries; medical history, physical exam, operative, consultation, and autopsy reports; diagnostic-imaging studies; progress notes; and referral letters.

Most medical transcriptionists have some post-secondary education and knowledge of computers and medical terminology. Education is usually gained through a one-year certificate program or a two-year associate’s degree program. Some employers also may want to check background (Click here) stats.

Dallas Teaching Jobs Not Accounted For

The federal stimulus may have created more Dallas teaching jobs than was originally reported.

It appears as though many school districts throughout Texas aren’t doing a good enough job at keeping track of how many jobs have been created by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

According to an article by The Dallas Morning News, that revelation led the Texas Education Agency to warn the school districts involved, and the agency recently sent a letter to state school districts notifying them of the problems.

Dallas Construction Jobs for Painters

Construction and maintenance painters work in buildings or at construction sites to paint walls, equipment, buildings, bridges, and other structural surfaces by using brushes, rollers, and spray guns. They also may remove old paint and mix colors to find the right combination.

Dallas Teaching Jobs, Healthcare Jobs See Biggest Yearly Employment Gain

Those with Dallas teaching jobs and healthcare jobs saw the biggest yearly increase in employment last month.

The October unemployment rate has not yet been released for the Dallas area, however, Texas as a whole saw its unemployment rate increase from 8.2 percent to 8.3 percent last month, which is lower than the national unemployment rate of 10.2 percent.

The Dallas-Plano-Irving area had a total non-farm employment of 2,060,600 during October, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics. This is up from 2,054,600 workers during September, but a 2.5 percent decrease from last year.
