RN Jobs Phoenix, Other Positions Strengthen with Collaboration

Two groups that have been working together to prepare students for RN jobs Phoenix, and a host of other positions, have made their ties even stronger.

Mayo Clinic and Arizona State University recently signed an agreement to solidify their healthcare collaboration. The agreement will continue many of the healthcare, medical research, and education efforts the two groups have been working on for the past eight years, as well as focus on future initiatives.

“We are very excited about this agreement, which reflects our mutual commitment to working closely with our partners at ASU as we continue to enhance our ongoing collaborations across a broad variety of projects and programs,” Victor Trastek, M.D., vice president of Mayo Clinic and CEO of Mayo Clinic in Arizona. “One important area of focus with ASU is our collective ability to redesign medical education in ways that align with the future of health care delivery.”

Phoenix Customer Service Jobs with Deluxe Cut

Several Phoenix customer service jobs (Click here) are slated for elimination as a well-known national company closes its local call center.

Deluxe Corporation recently announced its plans to close the company’s call center in Phoenix and lay off about 175 employees. The Minneapolis-based company offers personalized blank checks and other products to consumers and businesses.

The company is closing its Phoenix location in an effort to take on more capacity at other offices throughout the country. Employees who are affected by the job cuts will have the chance to receive severance benefits and help finding other jobs.

Houston Government Jobs in Danger from State Cuts

A large number of Houston government jobs could be effected by impending state budget cuts.

A new analysis of the Texas state budget found that cuts in funding could end up costing Harris County, where Houston is located, about $50 million per year. That’s on top of the service cuts, layoffs, and furloughs the county is considering in order to cut 10 percent from its own $1.3 billion budget.

According to the Houston Chronicle, the State of Texas is currently facing a budget shortfall of $15 billion to $27 billion during the next two years. The initial draft of the budget does not increase taxes or use the rainy day fund, but includes deep cuts in such vital departments as public education and social services.

San Antonio Teaching Jobs Temporarily Saved

Several San Antonio teaching jobs have been saved – at least for the time being.

Last week, members of the San Antonio Independent School District Board failed to vote on a motion that would cut 130 jobs, in effect saving those positions for the time being. The board also said is would not consider outsourcing any positions.

Both of the ideas are among a number of measures the district is considering in an effort to bridge a budget gap that could reach anywhere between $33 million to $55 million. The shortfall is a result of state cuts to education funding, among other things.

Phoenix AZ Jobs Created by Power-One

A successful renewable energy company is creating more Phoenix AZ jobs.

Power-One, Inc. has opened a new manufacturing plant in Phoenix that will eventually employ about 350 people. This is the company’s first manufacturing facility in North America. Power-One is the second-largest producer of power inverters in the renewable energy industry.

The company chose Phoenix as the location for its new facility because of the area’s strong workforce; access to intellectual resources at Arizona State University; and strong support from Gov. Jan Brewer, the Arizona Commerce Authority, the City of Phoenix, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council.

Miami Nursing Jobs Supported by Local Hospitals

Hospitals create hundreds of thousands of Miami nursing jobs and other healthcare positions and pump billions of dollars into the local economy every year.

A new study from the University of Florida found that hospitals throughout the state create 739,078 jobs and have an economic impact of $54 billion each year, accounting for about 7.34 percent of Florida’s gross domestic product.

“This report underscores the economic contribution our hospitals provide to their local communities each and every day,” Bruce Rueben, president of the Florida Hospital Association, said. “This is especially important at a time when Florida has the fourth-highest unemployment rate in the nation.”

Dallas Medical Jobs for Transcriptionists

Medical transcriptionists spend most of their time listening to recordings made by healthcare professionals and transcribing them into medical reports. They may create discharge summaries; medical history, physical exam, operative, consultation, and autopsy reports; diagnostic-imaging studies; progress notes; and referral letters.

Denver, Colorado Jobs in Good Shape

Even though unemployment continues to climb, the local and statewide job picture is continuing to improve.

During November, the Denver area’s unemployment rate increased to 8.7 percent, while Colorado’s rate grew to 8.6 percent. Despite the increases, both of those figures are lower than the national average of 9.8 percent.

More Denver jobs were added over the month, as employment grew from 1,192,400 workers during October to 1,194,200 workers during November, making for a .2 percent increase from 2009, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

San Antonio Government Jobs See Biggest Growth

San Antonio government jobs (Click here) saw the biggest monthly employment gain during October.

That month, the San Antonio area’s unemployment rate increased from 7.2 percent to 7.3 percent, which follows a drop from 7.6 percent during September. Despite the latest jump, the area’s rate was still lower than the national average at the time of 9.6 percent.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, the San Antonio-New Braunfels area employed a total of 837,700 workers during September, which is up from 835,000 workers during September and a .7 percent increase from last year.
