San Antonio Teaching Jobs Temporarily Saved

Several San Antonio teaching jobs

have been saved – at least for the time being.

Last week, members of the San Antonio Independent School District Board

failed to vote on a motion that would cut 130 jobs, in effect saving those positions for the time being. The board also said is would not consider outsourcing any positions.

Both of the ideas are among a number of measures the district is considering in an effort to bridge a budget gap

that could reach anywhere between $33 million to $55 million. The shortfall is a result of state cuts to education funding, among other things.

San Antonio Government Jobs See Biggest Growth

San Antonio government jobs (Click here

) saw the biggest monthly employment gain during October.

That month, the San Antonio

area’s unemployment rate increased from 7.2 percent to 7.3 percent, which follows a drop from 7.6 percent during September. Despite the latest jump, the area’s rate was still lower than the national average at the time of 9.6 percent.

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics

, the San Antonio-New Braunfels area employed a total of 837,700 workers during September, which is up from 835,000 workers during September and a .7 percent increase from last year.

Jobs for San Antonio Military Spouses Best in Nation

One company that is headquartered locally and known for providing jobs for San Antonio

has been named the best in the nation for employing military spouses.

magazine recently named USAA number one on its fourth annual list of the top Military Spouse Friendly Employers for the second consecutive year. USAA currently employs about 1,686 military spouses and offers special programs that support the unique circumstances facing spouses of those with military jobs .

Employees also have access to a Work Life Referral counselor to help them find alternative child care options during deployments and an intranet site designed to help spouses deal with financial, legal and benefits-related information and guidance.

San Antonio Government Jobs Increase 2.3 Percent Over Year

Although the industry lost workers over the month, San Antonio government jobs

saw the second-largest yearly increase in employment during June, behind only the mining and logging industry.

During June, the San Antonio-New Braunfels area’s unemployment rate increased from 7.1 percent to 7.7 percent, after decreasing from 7.3 percent during May. Despite the latest increase, the area’s rate is still lower than the national average of 9.5 percent.

The San Antonio

area had a total non-farm employment of 838,100 workers during June, according to the U.S. Department of Labor Bureau of Labor Statistics . This is up from 835,800 workers during May and only a .5 percent decrease from last year.

San Antonio Medical Jobs

Hospitals are a great place to work, and if you’re looking for San Antonio medical jobs
